Truth and Consequences

October 2008-August 2009

A man struggles to maintain his relationship with a demanding partner. A copyeditor learns the heavenly host are at war and humans must fend for themselves. Residents of Purgatory try to decide if Judas deserves punishment or redemption. And a teenage boy uses deception to push the boundaries of intimacy and trust online. These four stories make up Forum's 2008-09 season at H Street Playhouse. Join us for these exciting productions and the discussions they are sure to stimulate!

Forum opened season 5 with the DC premiere of Drunk Enough to Say I Love You? by one of our favorite playwrights, Caryl Churchill. This short play, which cleverly combined international and interpersonal politics, ran October 11 to November 2.

In December, we brought back Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. Most of the cast from our critically acclaimed April 2008 production was able to join us again for this limited run. Like the original production, the remount played to packed houses.

In March, company member Alexander Strain returned to Forum to direct Jose Rivera's Marisol. We transformed H Street into a creepy post-apocalyptic version of New York peopled with angels, psychopaths, and the occasional kind-hearted homeless person.

In July, Forum put a sensual chill in the summer air with the DC premiere of Carlos Murillo's dark play or stories for boys. Directed by Michael Dove, this exciting new work garnered more praise for Forum's adventurous storytelling and left audiences excited for our upcoming sixth season.
